Notes from the Editor

August 1, 2006

Dearest BCAN Family,

WOW! Summer is here again! Sunday School is over for the
year. Vacations, picnics, graduations are all on the
calendars BUT let us NOT forget that we still have a church
that needs each person to attend to help keep the body
functioning.

We can once again say HAPPY THANKSGIVING! The Lord has
blessed us with our 10th Senior Pastor in the
history of the Baptist Church of all Nations with Rev Dr
Johnny M Wilson, Jr. PRAISE GOD!

So much has happened in our lives. We need to
remember that no matter what happens, good or bad, that we
need to take the time to thank God for all that he has
done. We have many lessons to learn in life. If you go a
day without learning something then was it really a good
day?

And finally, thank you to each of you for having
patience and faith in me while I took the time to regroup
my life, but still continued with God’s works!

Get your calendars updated with the events noted inside
the newsletter!!!

Let’s get ready to move into the future!

Keep the faith & Love in Christ,
Micaila

What:   Vacation Bible School

Where:   BAPTIST CHURCH OF ALL NATIONS, TAUNTON, MA

Date:   August 14th to August 18th, 2006

When:   6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Why:   To Discover the riches of Christ!

When you pray, how do you pray?
From: Sis. Niko Dias

When you pray, how do you pray? Are you thinking about
your needs and ask God to help standing? When praying for
the needs of family or friends do you find a special place,
a prayer closet? Do you asking God for blessings in your
life or comfort for a grieving friend prostate on the
floor? Are you praying scripture like, Ephesians 3:14-21,
II Corinthians 10:4-5 or Psalm3: 3-4 while driving? What
is your focus and what is your method of prayer?

As a believer of Jesus Christ, are focus must be Christ!
FIRST. For without the cross of Calvary and the glorious
resurrection of the Son of God, we would have no means to
enter the throne room of God ( I Timothy 2:4-6). Without
Christ we would have no authority to speak or be heard by
the Creator of All things. Think of it this way, you want
to see the President of the United States, but you have no
appointment and no special security clearance. It will not
happen. However, Jesus makes a way for us not only to
enter the throne room but also to make our petitions (you
can call them prayers, pleas, or supplications) known to
God the Father (Matthew 7:7-8). So, you can see the
President and he desires to hear from to you. That is
awesome. To be made worthy to communicate with God
directly is a privilege that must be cherished. Hey you
should thank God for that spiritual truth right now.
Wow!!!!!!!!!!! You just entered in to the throne room with
that word of thanksgiving for prayer.

As one of the leaders of the Wednesday 12 pm prayer hour, I
have to say my method of prayer varies as much as the
weather. Now this is a good thing. God has confirmed to
me that variety in prayer life is the spice of a growing
relationship with the Lord. What do you mean ?!?! I am
glad you asked the question. Note that the central purpose
of prayer is communication with the God our Heavenly
Father. However, the means to connecting or communing with
Him will change given the moment. For example, we can talk
to a friend in many ways today. Some people may write a
letter, send e-mail, IM (instant message on computer) or
dial digits on a phone. So we in the family of believers
should feel free to contact our Heavenly Father in similar
fashion. Sometimes communication with God demands alone
prostate, knee bent, or maybe no words, just silent tears.
Sometimes silent meditation on a given scripture is the
method of commune with God. Maybe God wants to speak to
you in a group with other believers in the sanctuary on
Wednesday at noon. When you need to talk to your Heavenly
Father, know that he can and desires to hear from you
through all these ways and more. So, if you need
encouragement to pray, come on Weds. If you have a need
but cannot come in person, send a prayer message to the
church website or call the church office.

BCAN YOUTH GROUP
Happenings
In June and July the Youth Ministry stayed active. We
participated in SuperRally 2006—a youth outreach and
evangelistic event at Six Flags, NE. We enjoyed ourselves
and got to experience God-honoring worship and the
proclamation of His Word (and no one was injured, Praise
God).
This Summer we began our new educational program
—Revolution. This Christian produced video series includes
insights from Christ-serving leaders like Doug Fields and
gospel hip-hop artists Grits. The lessons are
scripture-filled and loaded with probing questions to get
students thinking about how God works in our lives (and how
much more He could be if we were ready).
In June/July we had two opportunities to share in
fellowship with the Wed Night Adult Bible Study group. We
are blessed when the “foundation” of our congregation comes
together with the “future” of our congregation. Each
combined session is an opportunity for our students to see
the living testimony of Jesus Christ and to experience
God-honoring fellowship/friendship. Thanks to all those who
shared themselves with our youth. We look forward to more
times of shared fellowship again.

Earlier in the year we experienced two things that must be
mentioned—True Love Waits 2006 and the 30 Hour Famine. TLW
is a Christ-centered purity and abstinence program that
inspires students (and adults) to commit to God, self,
family, friends, and future spouse to live a life of purity
in relationships. It’s challenging—but God always empowers
us when we trust Him. The 30 Hour Famine is a hunger-relief
effort sponsored by the global missions organization World
Vision. Seven youth completed a time of fasting and
growing closer to the Lord and over $200 was raised and
donated to World Vision—Praise the Lord.
….God is in the midst of us.

Rod and Staff

“Rod and Staff” is included in our newsletter with the
intent of assisting parents in their training up of their
young people. The content for this month involves an
upcoming event for our Young Men’s Rites of Passage
Program—Men of Valor.

The mission of our Youth Ministry to train up our young
people to be model servant-leaders and ambassadors for
Christ. Using Biblical principles as our foundation, we
will focus youthful energy and passion so our young people
might become devoted, disciplined, discerning, and
diligent. Using the gifts given to us by our Creator we
shall in all things give glory to God. Thus developing Men
of Valor and Women of Virtue.
With this mission in mind, we are continuing with our Rites
of Passage Program for young men (ages 8 through 18). The
next event we are sponsoring is described below and is
based upon the encouragement found in Luke 15.

Who: Young men who are currently involved in the Youth
Ministry and those who were involved but have not been
active (and some have not even been seen) for the past two
or three years. ALSO, older men who have a testimony for
Jesus Christ and understand the power of prayer.

What: This is an outreach event looking to reach those who
have not been active in the Youth Ministry or should have
transitioned to “adult” ministry but did not.
Activities will include:
•   Fellowship time (to catch up on how attendees have been
doing)
•   Interactive Discussion about the Father of the Prodigal
son (Luke 15:11-32)
•   Measure of a Man Survey
•   Tug of War (yes, literally)
•   Barach Ceremony (blessing and laying on of hands)
•   Fellowship time

When/Where: August 5th 9am – 12pm at the church.

Why: As an outreach for those who have been “away”, as a
fellowship time for young men in the Body of Christ, and as
a training opportunity for those growing in grace and the
knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

How: Joel 2:28-29

If you feel a leading by God to join us in this event
and/or the general effort to train up the next generation
of young men for Christ, then please let me know. You will
not be overwhelmed with more duties than you can handle
(with God’s help of course) and you will not be left alone.
The harvest is plenty but...(Matthew 9:37).

In His Service—Bro. Martin Dias, Youth Director.

Pastor’s Corner

Twenty-first century Church

A twenty-first century church will look like a
twentieth-century church, but it will look different.
Pilots of the sky are aware of the differences between a
propeller of the DC-3 and a jet engine of a 757. According
to one pilot, both have wings, seats and space. The
reality is that there are differences. The differences are
capacity, speed, noise and cost. They share the mission of
transporting millions of passengers daily for seven days a
week. The new-century church in the words of Lieth
Anderson, in his book A Church of the 21st Century he
asserts: “The new-century church will be an updated
version of the old-century church. It will be differ in
everything from cost to complexity. However, both are the
body of Christ and share the purpose of doing God’s work in
God’s way, evangelizing non-Christians, and edifying
Christians. What does Jesus say about the Church? God’s
word is sufficient for all times and situations. Whenever
we allow worldly concerns to supersede Christ’s mission, we
disrupt the mission of the Church in the minds of the
social scientist. Mark 11:17 say: My house shall be
called of all nations the house of prayer.

Pastor Johnny M. Wilson Jr.

“Something Good is on the Horizon!”

A Father’s Example

There are little eyes upon you,
And they’re watching night and day;
There are little ears that listen
To every word you say.

There are little hands all eager
To do the things you do;
And a little boy who’s dreaming
Of the day he’ll be like you.

You’re the little fellow’s idol,
You’re the wisest of the wise;
In his little mind, about you
No suspicions ever rise.

He believes in you devoutly,
Holds that all you say and do
He will say and do in your way
When he’s grown up just like you.

There’s a wide-eyes little fellow
Who believes you’re always right;
And his ears are always open
As he watches day and night.

You are setting an example
Every day in all you do,
For the little boy who’s willing
To grow up to be like you.

BCAN Picnic

If you attended the Annual Baptist Church of All Nations
picnic you truly experienced an awesome time of fellowship,
fun and family! The Holy Baptisms were amazing. There was
so much love and support, along with tremendous emotion,
that took place during the event.

Numerous people also were extended the Right hand of
Fellowship/Membership into the BCAN family.

Pastor Wilson and his family were blessed by the
experience. They have found out quickly that we are a
church that loves to eat.

The children had much fun with Roy and Martin leading the
way with games and activities.

Again thank you to all who once again made the event a
blessing to one and all! See you next year at the Brockton

Assembly of God Family Center!
