OUR HISTORY - In 1932 a group of men and woman were meeting for bi-lingual worship services in English and in Portuguese at the Winthrop Street Baptist Church in Taunton, Massachusetts.  Sunday school classes were formed and soon attendance grew to warrant organizing the Portuguese Baptist Church.  Later, in 1940, the name was changed to the First Portuguese Baptist Church.  The Reverends Manuel Avilla and J. Rodrigues were the first pastors.  In 1945 the church acquired its own property at 129 Oak Street in Taunton, MA.  After meeting at the Oak Street location for nine years, it was decided that the church should acquire some available land nearby on Pine Street.  The church purchased the land and built a new church at that location.  While meeting at these locations, The First Portuguese Baptist Church, congregation was pastored by Reverends Williston Holbert and Manuel Oliveira.  Each pastor made a unique and lasting contribution to the life of the church.  In 1969, the church purchased the building formerly owned by Winslow Congregational Church at 61 Winthrop Street in Taunton, MA.  The congregation moved there and continued to thrive.  In 1977, to reflect the demographics of the time, the name of the church was changed to The Baptist Church of All NationsOn February 14, 2010 Reverend  Luz Celeniar Tirado was installed as The Baptist Church of All Nations' 11th Senior Pastor.

The Website's Mission Statement (www.thebcan.org)

  • To provide interaction, intercession and invite prayer requests so that dedicated prayer warriors can see God move in the lives of others.  To provide quality checked resource links for Christians and for seekers who desire to know more about our Faith and to be victorious and successful in all aspects of life.  To provide and invite original Christian inspirational. writings, quotes and testimonies through our different links.
  • www.thebcan.org Webteam is committed to taking the Internet by storm for Christ. It is our firm belief that left unattended, the Internet will go the way of television and radio. In fact Internet content is already riddled with debauchery and anti-Christian messages. Today is the day to get every church online. Today is the day to start adult and teen chat rooms and discussion boards with an overwhelming Christian theme. Today is the day to reach out across the world and win the heart of child that may never speak our language for Christ.

www.thebcan.org Website team operates with a belief with the following articles:

  • That there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • That the Holy Bible is the inspired, infallible and authoritative source of Christian doctrine and precept.
  • That man was created in the image of God but, as a result of sin, is lost and powerless to save himself.
  • That the only hope for man is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, the virgin-born Son of God, who died to take upon Himself the punishment for the sin of mankind, and who rose from the dead, so that by receiving Him as Savior and Lord, man is redeemed by His blood.
  • That Jesus Christ will personally return to earth in power and glory. That the Holy Spirit indwells those who receive Christ for the purpose of enabling them to live righteous and holy lives.
  • That the Church is the Body of Christ and is comprised of all those who, through belief in Christ, have been spiritually regenerated by the indwelling Holy Spirit. The mission of the church is worldwide evangelization and the nurture and discipline of Christians.

Note:  The www.thebcan.org's  Mission Statement does not replace The Baptist Church of All Natin's Mission Statement.  It in fact it works in conjuctions with it and only adds that along with working towards saving souls at 61 Winthop St. in Taunton we, HIS people,  are also doing so with the internet!  BCAN is everywhere!  Praise the Lord!
