30 Hour Famine 4/28-29/07

The Youth Ministry participated in a hunger relief effort called "30 Hour Famine" for their 2nd year in a row!  PRAISE GOD!  It's part of a national effort coordinated by World Vision. The event encourages faith growth by raising awareness of the suffering of others and by forcing youth to trust more in their relationship with God to strengthen them to meet the challenges of the fasting (for 30 hours). There were 17 youth involved in fasting, public service volunteering and live changing projects.

Friday Night: We got started with a pizza, soda and salad at around 6 p.m. This was the last meal the youth and adult Youth Ministry members ate before Sunday morning. We also played games which were organized by the Youth.  The plan was to have everyone settled done by 12 a.m. so we can get a good night's sleep in preparation for the service projects the next day.

"30 Hour Famine" - Youth Ministry - Day 2

Saturday (day): We have a few service projects for both the Young Ladies & Young Men.

Young Ladies: The ladies participated in volunteer work at Taunton High School.  They painted 3 to 4 classrooms that were in dier need of a fresh new coat of paint while other ladies helped hang Flags of the States & Countries that represented the Cultural population of Taunton High School around the lunch room.  Once they were done with painting and hanging the flags, they wrote encouraging letters filled with hope, scriptures and love to all of those listed on our "Prayer List".

Young Men: The young men participated in volunteer work at Taunton High School.  They went around the entire high school area locating and fixing signs that needed straightening out, picking up rocks that were in the driveway and cleaning up debris around the school.

Saturday (night): Saturday night the youth participated in many "Role Play" activities that challenged them to adopt a handicap in order to prove their strengths and teach them what others experice as a weekness.  We all then went bowling!!

Sunday (day): OFF TO CHURCH WITH AN UPLIFTED AND VICTORIOUS SPIRIT!
