John R. 'Tex' Teixeira, Sr. helped build the Lowell Connector; 84 NASHUA, NH Mr.
John R. "Tex" Teixeira, a resident of Nashua NH, formerly of Lowell, died April 8th, at his home surrounded by his loved ones, after an extended illness, aged 84 years. He was the beloved husband of Natividade (Santos) Teixeira, with whom he celebrated 46 years of marriage last December. Born in New Bedford, MA, on March 24, 1924, he was the son of the late, Francis R. and Maria T. (Pina) Teixeira. He received his education in the New Bedford school system. "Tex" was a former communicant of Saint Anthony's Church, and a member of the Holy Ghost Society. He was a member of the Local 49 Teamsters. For 35 years, he was associated with Campanella & Carti Construction who built most of the highways in New England; locally the Lowell Connector. The project he was working on when he met his wife, Natividade. He was also associated with Perini Construction, constructing the Seabrook Power Plant. After his retirement, he became a courier and security guard for the Family Bank on Central Street where he made many friends. "Tex" enjoyed spending time with his family and his many friends, but his true love was spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. Besides his loving wife, his is survived by three daughters, Anita Rocheteau of Plymouth, MA, Priscilla Dodd and her husband, John of Kingston, MA, and Brenda M. Teles and her husband, Manuel of Hudson, NH; three sons, John R. Teixeira, Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Los Angles, CA, Steven J. Teixeira and his wife, Toni of Chino Hills, CA and Frank M. Teixeira of Las Vegas, NV; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Elder Parker of New Bedford; a sister-in-law, Encarnacao Pereira of Lowell; many nieces and nephews, and many many dear friends including Cristodio and his wife, Isabel Caires of Lowell, and Barney Baptista and his wife, Cecile of Falmouth, MA. He was also the brother of the late Ida T. Souza, Juliana T. Parker, and Joseph P. Teixeira, and brother-in-law of the late Jose M. Pereira.
TEIXEIRA Died in Nashua, NH, April 8th, 2008, Mr. John R. "Tex" Teixeira, a resident of Nashua, formerly of Lowell, aged 84 years. He was the husband of Natividade (Santos) Teixeira. Friends will be received at the MORSE-BAYLISS FUNERAL HOME, 122 Princeton Blvd. at Chester and Harvard Sts. on Friday, from 4-8 P.M. His Funeral will take place from the Funeral Home on Saturday at 9 A.M. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at Saint Anthony's Church, Lowell at 10 A.M. Friends invited.
