Rev. Dr. Tirado, affectionately called Pastor Lucy started her ministry with us on November 29, 2009 and her official Service of Installation as the eleventh pastor took place on February 14, 2010. Her undergraduate in Business combined with her other educational accomplishments has formed a unique spiritual view for the total person in congregational life. She is a graduate from the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico: Masters of Divinity-1998; Fordham University’s Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education: Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling & Spiritual Care-2002; Palmer Theological Seminary: Doctor of Ministry in Marriage & Family-2010 and trained with HealthCare Chaplaincy in New Yorkto become a Board Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains. She has held several pastoral leadership positions in Massachusetts and has provided a strong presence within the American Baptist Churches of Massachusettsas part of the Board of Directors (2003-2006) and just recently has been invited to consider becoming part of the American Baptist Clergy Nehemiah Leadership Network. Since Pastor Lucy’s arrival and her vision to challenge us to remember the past as we prepare for the future and beyond: She has baptized increased membership; has provided an Advent preaching and teaching series on our relationships with God, self & others and Sunday preaching series on stewardship, prayer, healing for wholeness and is presently teaching on the Book of Revelation; encouraged the return of our Vacation Bible School (VBS) with an Adult class; has challenged us to form a Feasibility Study to explore the purchase of additional property; has received new ministry proposals for young adults; the deaf and stewardship; has challenged five ministries of the church into a Fundraising Initiative; prompted the Spiritual Board to review and update the churches by-laws; encouraged the Deacon Board to design a leadership covenant that will re-enforce a Biblical standard within the leadership of the church; has licenses to preach two members and will recommend two more for 2011; has increased the members of the Diaconate Board by two and is training an additional five for ordination; has successfully received a “Together In Ministry” Grant for $2000.00 from ABC-USA Ministers Council for The Greater Taunton Clergy Association's self-care and professional development; , ; has joined the Pastoral Care Department at Morton Hospitalas the Protestant Chaplain representing the Greater Taunton Clergy Association; and is a volunteer member of TEMA (Taunton Emergency Management Agency).
